Paint Hive Studio Announces Transition to Non-Profit Status, Expands After School Art Program to Reach More Students

Paint Hive Studio, a pioneering force in art education, is thrilled to announce its transition to a non-profit organization, underscoring its commitment to expanding access to art education through its highly successful After School Art Program. This change aligns with the studio's mission to nurture creativity and support the social-emotional development of children through art, with the goal of bringing the joy of creative expression to as many schools and students as possible.

Having already partnered with several local schools, Paint Hive Studio’s After School Art Program has garnered positive feedback for its impact on students' academic and personal growth. The program is designed not only to teach children about art but also to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence—key components of the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) framework. By integrating art with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) model, the program fosters creativity while also contributing to students' overall educational development.

“We’ve seen firsthand the transformative effects that art can have on young minds,” said Latonja D. Davis, Founder and Executive Director of Paint Hive Studio. “As a non-profit, we’re now in a better position to expand our reach, working closely with other organizations and community partners to bring our After School Art Program to more schools, especially those that might not otherwise have access to quality art education.”

The importance of art in child development cannot be overstated. Studies have shown that engaging in creative activities like painting and drawing can significantly enhance cognitive abilities, improve emotional regulation, and foster a sense of accomplishment in children. By offering these opportunities, Paint Hive Studio helps students build confidence, develop fine motor skills, and express themselves in a supportive environment.

Paint Hive Studio is calling on community members, educational institutions, and other organizations to join them in this mission. By supporting the After School Art Program, stakeholders can play a pivotal role in bringing the benefits of art and creativity to students across the region. The studio’s vision is to provide every child with the opportunity to experience the joy and educational benefits of art, regardless of their school’s resources.
